Catherine “Cat” Rood
MADISON-Catherine “Cat” Rood, age 52, passed away unexpectedly of coronary artery disease on Friday, Dec.14, 2012, at her home in Madison.
Cathy is survived by her mother, Annie Waitzman of Fennimore; her brother, Duke Rood of Taiwan; her step father, Dennis Hilgenberg of Fennimore; her beloved partner and best friend, Patrick Glynn of Madison; and several uncles and many cousins in Colorado and Texas.
Cathy attended Marquette Elementary School in Madison, River Valley Schools and Hill Country Free School in Spring Green. After high school she attended the UW-Madison where she majored in Chinese languages.
She worked as a corporate trainer in credit card and credit card fraud. She started her professional work at CUNA Mutual in Madison, when she left CUNA Mutual she worked for several other credit card companies; her specialty was credit unions. For her job she travelled nationwide conducting programs on credit and fraud. She traveled internationally throughout her life to Germany, Holland, France, Greece and Italy, she was a great travel companion.
She continued to expand her horizons by taking photography classes with Patrick this last year at MATC. Cat was a brilliant and literate scholar and always generous and loving to friends and those in need. She never saw a flower she didn’t like. She will be sorely missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial for Cathy will be at the WIL-MAR NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER, 935 Jenifer Street, Madison from noon until 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012. In lieu of flowers, a gift to the Madison Public Library Foundation would be appreciated. If you are sending flowers they should be sent to Cathy at 1207 E Wilson Street, Apt. 2, Madison.
