DNR demands Kipp Corp. clean up PCB contamination

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources on Thursday sent a letter to Madison Kipp Corp., demanding that it take immediate steps to clean up contamination near its facility on Madison's east side to comply with state and federal regulations. 

UW-Madison ends La Crosse nursing program

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is ending its nursing education program at Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse.The UW School of Nursing dean says the university is consolidating its nursing school on the Madison campus. For the past seven years, juniors and seniors in the UW nursing program could complete their degree requirements in western Wisconsin.WXOW-TV reported Gundersen Lutheran executive Mary Lu Gerke said the health system will continue to work with local colleges to educate nurses to meet the need for health care professionals in western Wisconsin.

A 50-year-old Fall River man was critically injured on Tuesday night when a softball-sized piece of cement crashed through his windshield as he drove north on Interstate 39/90 on Madison's East Side.
