Carol Slama, age 61, of Cottage Grove, passed away on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on March 25, 1953, the daughter of Robert and Irene (Zipp) Coxhead. She married Robert Slama on Dec. 24, 1978, in North Barrington, Ill. Carol was a nurse with UW Hospital and Clinics for 36 years, and was very dedicated. She was a loving and caring wife and mother. We will always remember Carol for her unconditional love, honesty, courage, compassion … and sense of humor. Carol is survived by her husband of 36 years, Robert; children, Bryan (Amy Nack) Slama and Elizabeth Slama; grandchildren, Christian Castro and Annaliese Slama; brother, Robert (Tiffany Vanderstokker) Coxhead of Reno, Nev.; brother-in-law, James (Katherine Wall) Slama; sister-in-law, Margaret (Kenneth) Gretschmann; nephews and a niece, Anne Slama, Kenny Gretschmann, and Andy Gretschmann; and aunt, Audrey Zipp of Napa Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; uncle, Bill Zipp; and mother and father-in-law, Ted and Marge Slama.
Private services will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank friends and co-workers at UW Hospitals and Clinics for all their loving support, friendship and dedication.
