Car, purse, laptop stolen from residence in southwestern Madison, police say

MADISON, Wis. — A man broke into a southwest side residence early Friday morning and stole multiple items, according to the Madison Police Department.

Authorities said the suspect gained access to the residence in the 7100 block of Countrywood Lane by using a garage door opener that was inside an unlocked vehicle parked outside.

Once the suspect got in they stole a purse, a laptop, keys to a vehicle and the vehicle itself. The homeowner said he discovered the burglary when his pet dog woke them up while barking.
