VERONA, Wis. — Verona has been a high school hockey powerhouse in recent years, earning two state titles since 2014. Now, the community needs more ice to meet the demand for skaters of all ages.

With the Verona Ice Arena at capacity much of the year, I.C.E., Inc. has launched the “Ice for Kids of All Ages” capital campaign, aiming to raise $7 million to turn the current outdoor ice rink just south of the old Eagle’s Nest into another indoor rink.

Those behind the effort say it will not just benefit young athletes but also area businesses, which see an influx of visitors when events are happening at the arena.

“We’ve got some opportunities to grow some programs in the area, and we just want to provide another facility that can continue to allow that same trend of growth,” said Joel Marshall, the high school’s boys varsity hockey coach and director of operations for the rink.

The campaign has already received an initial $1 million gift from the Jingles O’Brien Scholarship Fund and the O’Brien family To learn more or to donate, click here.
