Cameron J. Selin

Cameron J. Selin, age 91, died Tuesday January 16, 2018 at the Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care in Viroqua, surrounded by his loving family and caregivers.

Cameron was born on May 8, 1926 to Oscar and Carrie (Hagen) Selin. He was born at home in Vernon County, Jefferson Township, on the family farmstead, which was the site of the original Vernon Vineyards. He graduated from Viroqua High School in 1944. He later married the love of his life, Peggy Ruth Groves. Together they farmed for some 66 years, both in dairy products and tobacco. He was a board member of the Westby Creamery, a board member of the Round Prairie School and a member of the Viroqua Eagles.

Cameron loved trading-in cars, a lot, not a little, often several times in a year. He was also a practical joker who loved teasing others for the smile it brought to everyone. If you knew him the chances are you probably were on the receiving end of a prank or two yourself. But in his heart he loved all children, and never met a youngster he didn’t like, after all he came from a family of 12 children.

Cameron is survived by; his life partner and wife Peggy, his three children Barbara (Bob) Hupp of Apollo Beach FL, Jack (Cindy) Selin of LaCrosse and Tom Selin of Viroqua. He is further survived by; six grandchildren, Carrie, Eric, Kyle, Tara, Jodi and Ryan, a great-grandson Christopher, a sister-in law Francis Selin and his cat Jimmy as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Being the youngest of twelve children Cameron was preceded in death by his parents and all 11 of his siblings, Orvie, Lydia, Oral, Carol, Willis, Myrtle, Borge, Alvin, Leilah, Irene, and Maylon.

Blessed be our memories of Cameron. He will be dearly missed.
