Cambridge coffee shop to close at end of year due to building owners refusing to renew lease
Kindfolk Coffee Co. opened in May 2017
Kindfolk Coffee Co., a coffee shop in Cambridge’s Galleria 214 building, announced on Facebook it will be closing its doors Dec. 29.
According to the post, Kindfolk “would love nothing more than to stay in this community and continue serving you.” The post says its building’s owners are refusing to renew the coffee shop’s lease.
“We appreciate your support,” the post says. “Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and for helping us create a thriving, successful business.”
In response to comments about Kindfolk’s departure, an official with Galleria 214 wrote, “It was never our intention to speak out about this publicly, as we consider it a private business matter between us and Chris, Kindfolk’s owner.”
In the Facebook post, the Galleria 214 owner says they want to stress it wasn’t an easy decision and it took a long time to reach the ultimate decision.
“The process of reaching this decision was a long one, with communication between both parties,” the post says. “In the end, we determined it was best to move forward without Kindfolk as a tenant.” In a separate post, Galleria 214 listed information about selling the “fully equipped, popular coffee shop.”
