Burglar targets businesses in smash-and-grab break-ins

Several businesses on Mineral Point were targets of smash-and-grab style break-ins Monday overnight, Madison police said.

Madison police responded to a cold scene business burglary in the 7400 block of Mineral Point Road around 6:15 a.m. Monday, according to a release.

Once officers responded, they found there had been four smash-and-grab style break-ins in the area, officials said.

Glass front doors were shattered at Avada Audiology and Hearing Care, Catura’s Art and Framing and Weight Watchers, according to the release. All of the businesses are in a complex at 7475 Mineral Point Road.

Cookies by Design, at 7414 Mineral Point Road, was also similarly targeted, police said.

Officials said the burglar appeared to be looking for cash, but a laptop computer was taken from one of the businesses.
