Bullfrogs defeat Mallards, 5-2

The Green Bay Bullfrogs scored three runs in the seventh inning to defeat the Madison Mallards, 5-2 in a Northwoods League game in Green Bay Thursday night.

The Mallards took a 2-0 lead in the third as Will Krug scored on a wild pitch and Pete Alonso drove in Cody Stevens with a run-scoring single.

Green Bay tied it in the bottom of the third as Paul Jacobson on and a wild pitch and Tony Brandner scored on a Brian Celsi ground out.

With the score 2-2 in the seventh, the Bullfrogs exploded for three runs. Two scored on Mallards errors and the other scored on a wild pitch.

Verona’s Ben Neumann (1-2) took the loss for the Mallards.

Madison is now 16-12 in the first half in the South Division. Green Bay improves to 13-17.

The Mallards and Bullfrogs continue their series in Green Bay Friday night.
