Bullet hits business during attempted drug deal, police say

TOWN OF MADISON, Wis. — Officers with the Town of Madison Police Department are investigating a shots fired incident from Thursday night.

Police were dispatched to the Capitol Petro store along the 2500 block of Rimrock Road around 7:05 p.m..

Police received a report of two men fighting when shots were fired, officer Jonathan Weaver said in a release. A Town of Madison officer on patrol in the area also heard a single shot.

A 24-year-old man from Madison told police a man pointed a gun at his head during a drug deal. The victim said he struggled with the man and a shot was fired in the process.

The other man ran away. A K-9 officer was brought in but unable to locate the suspect, Weaver said.

Police describe the suspect as a 25- to 30-year-old, light-skinned black male wearing all black clothing.

The victim suffered minor injuries during the incident and was treated by paramedics on scene, Weaver said.

The fired bullet struck a portion of the business causing minor damage, police said.
