Bucks’ Wes Matthews, Madison Public School Foundation launch effort to encourage kids to get active
MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Public School Foundation, along with Milwaukee Bucks player and former Memorial High School standout Wes Matthews, are launching a new initiative aimed at making it easier for students to get active.
“Play Every Day” will provide money to help teachers replace outdated recess and physical education equipment and also help students cover participation fees.
Matthews has already given the program a $50,000 gift and will match up to $50,000 in additional community donations.
“To be in the pioneer spot of this initiative, it’s fun, it’s exciting, and I hope that it continues to grow,” he said.
Organizers hope to raise $250,000 by September 1 in order to distribute money during the 2022-2023 school year.
