Bruce W. Wilson
MADISON, Wis. — Bruce W. Wilson, age 57, passed away at home on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017. He was born on March 23, 1959, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of William and Eloise (Hardy) Wilson. Bruce was a graduate of Madison Memorial High School, he attended UW – Stevens Point, before graduating from UW Madison. Bruce received his Juris Doctorate from Drake University, in Des Moines where he met Julie Guess. They were married on the beach on Tybee Island outside of Savannah, Ga. in June of 2008. Bruce practiced law at several firms in the Dane County area.
In 2003, Bruce established the Wilson Law Office in Madison where he practiced until his death. He was a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association, former Green County Board Supervisor, long-time Cruise Director of the Dinner Club, and a Tai-Kwan-Do black belt. Bruce never stopped learning and had a wide range of interests from space exploration to Japanese culture. Bruce held himself to the highest ethical standards and could be counted on to assess and act appropriately in any situation. He was intelligent and wise and kind and meticulous and fastidious. He had a wonderful chuckle and a delightful sense of humor. He was a loyal friend. Bruce enjoyed listening to music, cooking, sipping a well-made martini, traveling, and being with friends, but especially loved dogs and spending time with his wife and family.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Julie Guess; mother, Eloise Wilson; his sister, Kristen Halverson (John Lockwood); nephews, Kirby Halverson and Cameron Halverson; nieces, Haley Halverson and Kathryn Guess (Hilary); along with numerous other relatives and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Jill Ann in 1964; and his father, Bill, in 2013. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
