Brodhead man arrested, charged with 4th OWI
ORFORDVILLE, Wis. — A Brodhead man faces his fourth OWI charge after admitting to a sheriff’s deputy he had been drinking before driving Saturday night, authorities said.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office said an officer received a call at 8:22 p.m. about an intoxicated motorist in Orfordville while the officer was helping the Brodhead Police Department with a vehicle unlock.
A deputy responded and stopped 55-year-old James W. Burchard on West Beloit Street. Burchard smelled of alcohol and admitted to the deputy that he had been drinking, a news release said.
After failing field sobriety tests, Burchard was arrested and charged with felony OWI, the release said.
