Brisack leads Verona to State Tournament
Saturday night in Waunakee, Victoria Brisack led Verona to a 3-0 sectional final win over Sun Prairie. It marked the Wildcats’ first trip to the state tournament in four years. Brisack said she couldn’t have asked for a better ending to her senior year.
“A lot of these girls have been on the team with me for three years. Just to know that all of our hard work has paid off is tremendous.”
Four years of blood, sweat and tears has created an unshakable bond between Brisack and her Verona teammates.
“They mean everything to me. It’s like a family.”
That family atmosphere played a factor in Bresick’s decision to play college volleyball at Indiana.
“The family aspect of it. They really preached that.”
That was never more apparent than Saturday at Waunakee. The Hoosiers traveled to Madison to play Sunday’s match against Wisconsin, and they took the opportunity to attend watch Verona’s match against Sun Prairie. Needless to say, the gesture meant a lot to Brisack.
“That just shows how much of a family they really are. They took time after practice to come watch a future player.”
Brisack will graduate high school a semester early and enroll at IU in the spring.
Verona seeks their first state championship ever as they begin the tournament Thursday against Burlington.
