Bridge removal will cause delays on interstate, officials say

DOT: Labor Day travelers will see increased traffic enforcement, suspended construction

Interstate travelers should expect slowdowns in both directions Wednesday night as crews work to remove a bridge near Beloit, according to a release.

Crews will be removing the Hart Road bridge over Interstate 39/90 near Beloit, officials said.

For safety reasons, traffic will be slowed down on northbound and southbound I-39/90 lanes near Hart Road from 8 p.m. Wednesday until 5 a.m. Thursday, according to the release.

Single lane closures are also scheduled for both directions Wednesday and Thursday night, officials said.

All lane restrictions and construction work are weather-dependent and subject to change, according to the release.

The Hart Road bridge over the interstate will be replaced and lengthened, officials said.

The project is scheduled to be completed in late September, according to the release. Once completed, Hart Road will serve as an interstate alternate route for congestion during the expansion project.
