Brewers lose in Cincinnati, 4-2
Hamilton's homer, Simon's pitching spell defeat
CINCINNATI — Billy Hamilton hit a two-run homer and Alfredo Simon won his 11th game of the season as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 4-2 in Cincinnati Friday night.
Hamilton hit his fifth homer of the season in the third off Brewers starter Kyle Lohse to give the Reds a 2-0 lead.
The lead grew to 4-0 when Skip Schumacher doubled in Devin Mesoraco in the fourth and Joey Votto doubled in Todd Frazier in the fifth.
The Brewers got back in the game when Jean Segura drove in Aramis Ramirez with a infield single in the seventh and Jonathan Lucroy homered in the eighth to make it 4-2.
But Aroldis Champman closed the door in the ninth to nail down his 17th save of the season.
Reds starter Alfredo Simon (11-3) continued to make a strong bid for All-Star consideration pitching seven and a third innings allowing six hits, two runs, walking two and striking out three.
Lohse (9-3) lasted only five innings allowing seven hits and four runs, three of which were earned, walking one and striking out eight.
