Brewers’ Hand leaves with injury
Pitcher struck in pitching hand by pitch
MILWAUKEE — Brewers starter Donovan Hand has left in the fourth inning of his start against San Diego because of a bruised right hand.
X-rays taken Tuesday night were negative, and Hand is listed as day-to-day.
The right-hander was hit by a pitch from Tyson Ross in the third inning but remained in the game. In the fourth, Mark Kotsay’s ground ball bounced off Hand’s back leg but the pitcher threw him out.
Hand finished the inning but was replaced by Tyler Thornburg in the fifth.
After making three straight relief appearances, Hand allowed two earned runs and seven hits to go with one strikeout and a walk in four innings.
