Brewers Fall Apart In Ninth
Phillies score four off K-Rod to win it
PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Phillies scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning off new Brewers closer Francisco Rodriguez in a 7-6 win in Philadelphia Monday night.
Ty Wigginton’s sacrifice fly scored pinch runner Erik Kratz with the game winning run in the ninth.
Ryan Howard hit a two-run single and Carlos Ruiz tied the game at six with another run-scoring hit before Wigginton’s sacrifice fly won it.
The Brewers wasted a big night by Carlos Gomez who hit a three-run homer off Phillies starter Roy Halladay and also stole two bases.. .
Halladay was on the disabled list for almost two months and was making only his second start since May 27th.
The Brewers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning off Halladay with an RBI double by Aramis Ramirez and a run-scoring single by Corey Hart.
The Phillies tied it in the bottom of the first as Chase Utley and Ryan Howard homered off Brewers starter Randy Wolf.
But Milwaukee took a 3-2 lead on a Ryan Braun single in the third before Gomez hit his three-run shot off Halladay in the fourth.
Wolf went six innings allowing five hits, three walks and two runs.
Rodriguez (2-6) took the loss while Joe Savery (2-2) got the win for the Phillies.
