Braun gets some rest, doesn’t start

The Brewers’ Ryan Braun, who had offseason back surgery, didn’t start last night’s game against the Cubs in Chicago.

The move to sit Braun is part of manager Craig Counsell’s plan to limit him to 140 games.

Braun did play in the game, getting a pinch-hit, two-run double off of Pedro Strop in the 8th inning of the 4-3 loss.

Second baseman Scooter Gennett also was a late scratch from the lineup with right oblique tightness. Yadiel Rivera replaced him in the field and SS Jonathan Villar hit second in Gennett’s place.
