Boys and Girls Club CEO reaches donation goal after camping on top of trailer
Dane County Boys and Girls Club CEO Michael Johnson reached his fundraising goal after pledging to live on top of a trailer in Fitchburg until $450,000 was raised for his organization.
Johnson said since the organization is donor supported, they need the money to provide services for 4,000 kids, like healthy meals, school pickup, tutorial support and hardship grants.
Johnson only spent one night on the trailer, but he was willing to stay for much longer.
“If I have to stay up here two weeks, I will stay up here and tweet,” Johnson said. “We have 15,000 donors. And I will personally call every last one of them.”
Before he made it on top of the trailer overnight, Johnson, along with other Boys and Girls Club staff, rowed and swam their way across all four Madison lakes, before biking to Fitchburg.
Johnson’s effort leads up to Bike For Boys & Girls Club, the largest charity bike ride fundraiser in Dane County. To join the ride or make a donation, log onto their webpage.
