Book returned to library after almost 50 years
The San Francisco Public Library finally got an overdue book back–47 years later.
Branch manager Anne Vannucchi says the paperback copy of Eldridge Cleaver’s memoir “Soul On Ice” was returned 47 years, four months and 29 days late. If the library didn’t have a $10.01 cap on late fees, the fine would have amounted to $1,731.70.
The cover of the book was reportedly detached from its spine and has a hole in the title page.
Vannucchi says she’d like to know who the library patron is so she can get the story behind the returned book.
