According to the report, a citizen was walking along the river and reporting seeing a possible body in the river.

Officers checked the area and found the body of a man 65 years of age or older north of the dam about 20 feet from the shore, police said.

Police said they know the man’s identity, but it will be released later by the medical examiner’s office. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. As of Monday afternoon, there weren’t any reports of missing or endangered people from the area. Police are continuing to investigate.

The Janesville Fire Department was requested to assist with recovering the body.
