BMO Harris works on glitches after M&I acquisition

Says glitches caused processing issues for employee accounts

BMO Harris Bank said it’s still ironing out technical glitches as it works to convert M&I Bank’s acquired technology to BMO’s system.

The bank said a “processing issue” on Monday left some businesses unable to make direct deposits into employee accounts.

And some customers said they couldn’t log into their accounts Sunday. One Madison resident told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel he tried calling the bank’s help line but hung up after waiting on hold for 45 minutes.

BMO spokesman Jim Kappel said bank officials have been working to address issues. He says the long phone wait is due in part to customer-service employees spending more time to help customers log in for the first time.

Toronto-based BMO Financial Group acquired Milwaukee-based M&I last year.
