Blog: Go Fund Me for Oregon shooting hero
Chris Mintz is a father, a veteran and a hero.
As CNN reports, when Mintz heard gunfire at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College, his thoughts were about others. He says he also thought of his 6-year-old son Tyrik who was celebrating a birthday.
When the shooting broke out, Mintz actually ran towards the shooter. He tried to block the door to keep the gunman from coming in and consequently was shot three times. He said to the gunman, “It’s my son’s birthday today.”
Still, the gunman shot Mintz again. In the end, both of his legs were broken. His family says he needed rods for his legs, he had a bullet hit his back, stomach and his hand.
Mintz’s cousin set up a Go Fund Me Account for him and asked for a $10,000 goal. His family says he’s in a lot of pain and has many more surgeries ahead.
