What is your favorite part about living in Madison? The people! Everyone I’ve met so far has been incredibly welcoming, highly educated, and very active.
What is the biggest news story that you’ve covered? The 2016 Iowa Caucus. I was positioned directly above Chuck Todd’s “Meet the Press” set. It was inspiring to be in great journalistic company covering a historic election.
What do you like to do in your spare time? I enjoy trying to cook or bake new foods, tasting testing them (of course), and then working out (because it wouldn’t be healthy to sit around and eat ALL day!)
What is your favorite kind of ice cream? Birthday cake, cotton candy, or vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles. I like my ice cream to look pretty.
What is the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you? I got stuck inside a water slide at the Dells. It was a body slide that was supposed to go upside down. I went up…only to come down in the same direction! I had to be rescued through an emergency trap in the slide.
What is your favorite place to vacation? Disney World. It’s called the “Happiest Place on Earth” for a reason! Every trip there feels magical.
Who is your hero and why? My mom. It seems like the obvious choice, but I don’t know anyone more humble, selfless, and truly beautiful, inside and out. If I turn out to be exactly like her, I’ll have done something right.
What is the worst job you have ever had? In high school, I shelved books at the local library. My boss routinely reprimanded me for recommending books to kids looking for a good read. I’m still a little bitter… I was just trying to help!
Who would you most like to interview alive or dead, and why? My dad’s mom, my Grandma Lorey. She died when I was one. My dad’s done a great job of keeping her memory alive, but I have a lot of questions I’d like to ask her firsthand. I’d like to give her a big hug, too!
What is your favorite tradition around the holidays? Spending Christmas Day at home with my family. I’m lucky to have always been able to go “home for the holidays.” I’m also lucky to have a family I love to go home to!
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received? “Follow your passion. It will lead you to your purpose.” It’s an Oprah quote that I saw on a Starbucks cup. It inspired me to change my career path from law to journalism.
If you could relive any moment… what would that be? I would love to have a simple meal with my mom’s parents, my grandma and papa, at their house again.
Where were you when September 11, 2001 occurred? I was sitting on the floor, tying my shoes, wondering why my mom was watching an action movie before she drove me to school. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a movie.
