Big Brothers Big Sisters ‘Littles’ graduate program

They receive award to invest in future

Members of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County graduated the program on Monday and were awarded a check to their name to invest in their future accomplishments.

Of the 21 graduates, honored at the Madison Capitol, 16 are moving on to pursue higher education.

Xavier White, a Little in the program, started Big Brothers Big Sisters when he was 9 years old.

He said his big brother, Josh, taught him to make smart choices that enrich his life.

“How to weigh out decisions,” White said. “You know, how to think in a business-oriented way. How to just basically do what a man does, which is take care of business.”

White will attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the fall.

He’ll study music and business and said he may go on to get his Ph.D.
