Betty May Ridgely
MADISON – Betty Jones Ridgely, age 90, of Madison passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg.
She was born on October 20, 1923 to Richard C. & Nellie Healy Jones in Davenport, IA. She graduated from Clinton, IA High School. She married John A. “Jack” Kramer in 1942. He died in 1955. On July 4, 1958, she married Chester Worth Ridgely.
Betty volunteered in many ways including Madison Friends of International Students, the Methodist Hospital Auxiliary & the Wisconsin Radio Network for the visually impaired. She was an active member of the P.E.O sisterhood and a member of Chapter BC in Madison. Betty was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. In 2013 she moved to Oakwood West and said it was one of the best moves she ever made…she was having a ball!
Her husband, Chet, preceded Betty in death in 2012. She is survived by her two children, John A. (Carolyn) Ridgely & Elizabeth J. (Mark) Kauffman & two grandchildren Adam John Ridgely and Allison Nicole Ridgely.
A Memorial service will be held at 11am on Thursday, May 22 at the Resurrection Chapel, Hebron Oaks at Oakwood West, 6205 Mineral Point Road, Madison, WI, Pastor Sandy Nuremberg officiating. A visitation will be held at 10am until the time of service.
The family would like to thank the doctors & nurses at the MICU and Cardiac Care units at St Mary’s and the staff at Agrace Hospice for their care and support during her time there.
