Betty Mae Lochner, age 91, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Sauk Prairie Healthcare Center. She was born in Melrose, MN on Jan 25, 1923 to the late Joseph and Mary (Pfeffer) Stundebeck. Following High School she attended St. Joseph’s Nursing School in Marshfield graduating with a nursing degree. Betty married Victor N. Lochner at St. Norbert Catholic Church, Roxbury on June 1, 1949. After a lengthy career in nursing at Madison General, St. Clare Hospital in Monroe, Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital; she retired from Maplewood Nursing Home as Director of Nursing, retiring in 1986. Betty was an active member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, serving as a choir member and with the Christian Mothers Society. She was a past Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, volunteer at the Sunshine Patch, and Good Neighbor Clinic. Betty enjoyed bowling, golf, bridge, sewing, gardening, playing piano, music and watching sports.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Victor; 7 children, Mary (Leon) Olson of Madison, Barb Brandes of Waukee, IA, Carol (Tom) Heinrich of Hayward, Pam (Gordy) Smylie of Minocqua, Mike Lochner of Appleton, Paula (Mark) Lindquist of Sauk City, Mark (Robyn) Lochner of Nekoosa. Ten grandchildren, Derek (Kim) Sutliff, Jared (friend Rachel) Sutliff, Bryce Lindquist, Kaylin Smylie, Sarah Brandes, Bryan Lochner, Sean Lindquist, Hunter, Braden and Kaleb Lochner. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Charles Stundebeck, a brother in-law Alex Lochner, and a son in-law Barry Brandes.

Betty’s family would like to thank the Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital attending Doctors and ICU staff, and the staff at Maplewood for her wonderful care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Sauk City. A visitation will be held Friday, January 2, 2015 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City and from 10:00 am until 10:45 am the day of service. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.
