Betty J. Gilbertson
Betty J. Gilbertson, 81 of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Our House Assisted Living in Wisconsin Dells on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2014.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 377 Roger Street in Lyndon Station with Reverend Dennis Schueler officiating. Visitation will be held the Conway-Picha Funeral Home on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Betty Jane Sias was born August 18, 1932 to Percy and Bessie Sias (Clickner) of Lyndon Station. She graduated from Mauston High School class of 1950. Betty worked in Madison after High School. During the Korean War she was employed at the Garment Factory in Mauston. In her later years, she became the Head Cook at Lyndon Station Elementary School for 17 years until she retired. During her younger years she enjoyed time in Lake Geneva with her sister Geraldine (Everett) Nichols and family. Betty loved music, and reminisced of her family playing the banjo, violin, and harmonica in their home. Her musical talent was playing the clarinet in the Mauston High School Band. Betty had a passion for music, and enjoyed listening to various bands with family. Betty loved attending local town celebrations, parades, helping friends and family and being a lifelong member of the Ladies Auxiliary at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Lyndon Station. Her most beloved time of the year was celebrating Christmas and Birthdays with her family. She is most remembered for her home-cooking and baking cookies for everyone throughout the years.
Betty is survived by her husband, Lloyd Gilbertson of Wisconsin Dells; 3 children, Troy (Jennifer) Gilbertson, Trina (Jason) Krus both of Wisconsin Dells and Joseph (Sheila) Hall of Lyndon Station; her precious grandchildren; Erin (Erik) Riedasch of Madison, WI, Haley (Jeremy) Schyvinck of Reedsburg, WI, James “Jimmy” Gilbertson & Emily “Emma” Gilbertson of Wisconsin Dells, Timothy “Tygh” Field and Joshuah Krus both of Wisconsin Dells; great-grandchildren, Clint Jacob Schyvinck and Parker Vermerskirchen; step-children, Dawn (Doug) Cornelius of Apple Valley, MN, Karen (Dave) Onken of Inver Grove Heights, MN and Dr. Kenneth (Kate) Gilbertson of Duluth, MN. She is further survived by her brother, Robert Sias of Hartford, WI; her beloved sister, Carol (Larry) Keen of Lyndon Station; many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Hensel (Jeanette) Gilbertson of Whitehall, WI, step-grandchildren; Amber (Geoff) Grochvcinski of Hermantown, MN, Adam (Erica) Gilbertson of Orlando, FL, Angela and Aaron Cornelius of Apple Valley, MN, Andrew Onken of Duluth, MN, and Rachel (Dave) Vermerskirchen of Apple Valley, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John Tommy, Phillip, Dean, and Allen Sias; sister, Geraldine Nichols, sisters-in-law; Colleen Sias, Agnes Goplin and Bernadine Gilbertson; brothers-in-law; Everett Nichols, Bill Gilbertson, Paul Goplin, and Arthur Gilbertson; stepson, Keith Gilbertson, step-grandchildren; Peter, Matthew, and Christopher Onken.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Betty’s name be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Lyndon Station.
