Betty E. (Roth) Krause

Betty E. (Roth) Krause, 93, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. Betty resided in the West Madison and Middleton area her entire life, with the exception of a 3 year period in Sun Prairie. She was born in Madison to Albert and Martha Roth. She moved with them to Middleton in early childhood. Betty was educated in the Middleton school system, graduating from Middleton High School with the class of 1941. She attended classes at Madison Vocational College (now known as Madison College), until World War II, when she became employed at Rayovac and Oscar Mayer.

In 1945, she was married to John Krause, who preceded her in death in 1961. In 1969, she became employed as bookkeeper and “Gal Friday” at the office of Dr. T. F. Heighway in Middleton until her retirement after 30 years of service. She also enjoyed working part-time for Arbor View and St. Mary’s Health Care Center, with some additional volunteering at Oakwood Village West. Her home was on Madison’s far west side, where she enjoyed her neighbors and many friends. In 2012, she moved to Heritage Middleton Senior Living Campus, where she found numerous new friends and activities which she enjoyed.

Betty is survived by her brother, Donald (Mary) Roth; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Dale O’Donnell; sister-in-law, Betty Skoien Roth; and special friend, retired Pastor Curt Everson. In addition to her husband John, Betty was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marie Perry and Dorothy O’Donnell; and a brother, Robert Roth.

Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave, Middleton at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, where a time of fellowship and a light meal will follow.
