Bernard (Bernie) George Schultz, Jr.

Bernard (Bernie) George Schultz, Jr.

Bernard (Bernie) George Schultz, Jr., age 61, passed away on Sunday, February 26, at home in DeForest surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on October 25, 1955 in Milwaukee, WI to Bernard Sr. and Sheila (Lawler) Schultz. Bernie’s zest for life was unquestioned, and his love of family – both human and animal – was apparent in all that he did. He gave his loving wife the horse farm she always dreamt of on a little piece of heaven outside of DeForest where they then raised their family. His children were given every opportunity that mattered – exploring the vast animal kingdom provided on the farm, learning about nature, pursuing their passions with his support and blessing, and always knowing that they had a steady hand to guide them and fix anything that broke! Bernie’s gift from God was as a servant to all who knew him, happily doing everything from fixing leaking pipes and electrical switches to offering guidance and support on any aspect of life that you wanted to discuss. His hobbies included music–especially attending live shows – gardening, and motorcycle riding.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Penny; his children: Jennifer, Bernard III (Stephanie), Melissa and Timothy; his grandchildren: Isaac, Ashton and Isabella; his mother, his brothers and sisters, and countless uncles, aunts, cousins, in-laws, extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Bernard Sr. and his sister Elizabeth.

A celebration of life will be held from 4 pm until 6 pm on Monday, March 6, 2017, at Ryan Funeral Home, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest, WI, followed by a brief service beginning at 6 pm. Additionally, A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at St. Jerome Roman Catholic Parish, 995 S. Silver Lake St, Oconomowoc, WI with a private burial to follow.
