Beloit superintendent on leave pending investigation
BELOIT, Wis. — The superintendent of the Beloit school district, Tom Johnson, was placed on paid administrative leave pending an “investigation into potential alleged policy violations,” district spokesperson Jennifer Thompson said Thursday.
Thompson said she was unable to expand further into the nature of the investigation.
Beloit Board of Education President Laurie Endres sent an email to staff Monday night informing them of Johnson’s suspension.
“I am asking that you continue to support each other and that we remain focused on educating our 7000 students,” the email said. “Please know that Employee Assistance Program is available to all school district employees. EAP provides an array of confidential services. Continue to take great care of each other and take great care of our students.”
Assistant Superintendent of Administration, Operations and Equity Darrell Williams was named interim superintendent per board policy, Thompson said.
Johnson was named superintendent in 2015.
