Beloit man pleads guilty to lesser charges for killing of Illinois man
JANESVILLE, Wis. — A Beloit man charged with killing an Illinois man in Janesville has pleaded guilty to lesser charges.
Barquis McKnight , 33, pleaded guilty to homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Janesville police say McKnight shot 28-year-old Eddie Lee Jones after a verbal altercation in May. This was Janesville’s first homicide since 2014.
McKnight faces up to 20 years in prison. He will be sentenced March 2.
