Barrett says race tightening, dead heat

Democratic Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said he thinks the recall race against Republican Gov. Scott Walker is now a dead heat heading into Tuesday’s election.

An exuberant Barrett spoke to about 100 of his volunteers in Portage in one of several stops he made on the final day of campaigning before the recall vote.

Barrett said the recall effort started as a grass roots movement and it’s going to end that way with turnout of his supporters being the key factor that he believes will lead him to victory.

Barrett said the election is about the middle class reclaiming the future of Wisconsin.

Polls show a tight race. Walker said during a tour of a plastics plant in Fitchburg Monday morning that he also expected the outcome to be close.
