Baldwin aims to end Democrats’ losing streak in Wis.

Some Democrats are concerned that Wisconsin Rep. Tammy Baldwin could be too liberal to win the more conservative parts of Wisconsin she’ll need to get elected to the Senate in November.

Democrats are counting on Baldwin to snap a series of losses the party has suffered in Wisconsin starting in 2010. A win could also help Democrats keep the majority in the Senate.

Baldwin, the first openly gay candidate elected to Congress, is popular in liberal Madison, but she’s far less known in the rest of the state.

But she isn’t running toward the middle in an attempt to sway independent voters. Instead, she casts her campaign as a fight for the working class while also speaking out about saving Medicare, reforming Wall Street and embracing President Barack Obama’s health care reform.
