Badgers win Big Ten soccer title
McNicoll's goal gives Wisconsin championship
WEST LAFAYETTE, IN — Kinley McNicoll scored in the 104th minute to give the Wisconsin Badgers women’s soccer team the Big Ten Championship with a 1-0 win over Iowa Sunday in West Lafayette, Indiana.
McNicoll scored three minutes into the second overtime to give the 11th ranked Badgers the third conference title in program history and its first since 2005.
McNicoll was named the Big Ten Tournament MVP, goalkeeper Genevieve Richard was the tournament’s defensive MVP and Cara Walls was also selected to the all-tournament team.
The win qualifies Wisconsin (18-2-2) for the NCAA tournament. They’ll know their destination for the first round Monday at 3:30 pm on the NCAA selection show.
