Badgers to host open practice with free admission this weekend

MADISON, Wis. — You have a chance to see this year’s Wisconsin Badgers football team on the field for the first time this weekend — and it won’t cost you anything to get in.

The Badgers are hosting a free open practice Sunday afternoon at Camp Randall Stadium. Gates will open at 3:30 p.m., with practice running until about 5 p.m.

Prior to the practice, fans can gather at Badgerville outside the southeast corner of the stadium starting at 1:30 p.m. Part of the festivities will be the “Kohl’s Kids Combine,” with kids being able to take part in a mini football combine to test their skills. Badgerville will also have food and drinks, tailgate games, photo opportunities and more entertainment.

During the practice, Matt Lepay and Mike Lucas will be on hand to provide analysis and speak with special guests — including head coach Paul Chryst.

Admission to Badgerville and the practice is free, but fans can RSVP ahead of time to be eligible to win prizes and ticket offers.

The Badgers, who were ranked 18th in the first Associated Press Top 25 poll of the season on Monday, will kick off their season on September 3 in a night game at Camp Randall Stadium against Illinois State, during which the program will honor the back-to-back-to-back Big Ten championship teams of 2010, 2011 and 2012.
