Badger women win, avenge loss to Bemidji St.

Badger women’s hockey picked to win WCHA

A day after falling to Bemidji St. at home, Wisconsin women’s hockey avenged their home loss with a home win over the Beavers Saturday at LaBahn Arena. Brittany Ammerman scored a goal in overtime to give the Badgers a 2-1 win.

The day didn’t start out well for UW as the offense was silent in the first period and Stephanie Anderson forced a turnover and scored to make it 1-0 Beavers in the second period. Later in the second, Katy Josephs answered with a goal of her own to tie it 1-1.

Neither team was able to break through in the third period. Bemidji goalie Erin Deters was great, tallying 19 saves in the third period and 61 total.

40 seconds into overtime, Brittany Ammerman’s shot found the back of the net to give UW a 2-1 victory.
