Badger women shut out Minnesota State, 4-0
Wisconsin wins first game of WCHA playoffs
MADISON — Four different Badgers scored as the Wisconsin women’s hockey team opened the WCHA playoffs with a 4-0 win over Minnesota State at LaBahn Arena Friday night.
Sarah Nurse opened the scoring with a power play goal at 1:33 of the first period on assists from Brittany Ammerman and Blayre Turnbull.
In the second period, Madison Packer scored her 11th goal of the season from Kaitlyn Harding to give the Badgers a 2-0 lead.
Third period goals by Sydney McKibbon and Katy Josephs made the final 4-0.
Alex Rigsby made 26 saves in getting the shutout win for Wisconsin.
The Badgers can wrap up the best-of-three first round series Saturday night when the two teams face off again at LaBahn Arena at 7.
