TRENTON, Wis. — Two people, including a 6-month-old child, were killed Tuesday in a multi-vehicle crash on State Highway 33, north of Beaver Dam Lake.

Officials with the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to the intersection of State Highway 33 and Breezy Point Road shortly after 4 p.m. for a report of a crash.

An initial investigation revelated two vehicles, a Nissan and a Hyundai, were traveling south on Highway 33 when the Nissan stopped to make a left turn onto Breezy Point Road. As the Hyundai was stopped, a Ford van, also traveling south on the highway, rear-ended the Hyundai, forcing it to collide with the Nissan waiting to turn.

Officials said the 61-year-old driver and sole occupant of the Nissan suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized. The 26-year-old driver and sole occupant of the Ford van suffered minor injuries and was also hospitalized.

Two of the passengers in the Hyundai, a 68-year-old sitting in the front right and a 6-month-old sitting in the rear right, were pronounced dead at the scene. A 36-year-old who was sitting in the left rear seat of the Hyundai was hospitalized and later airlifted via Flight for Life.

Highway 33 was closed for more than 3 hours as crews worked to clear the scene.

Authorities said the crash is still under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and the Dodge County Medical Examiner.

Fox Lake and Beaver Dam fire departments, Fox Lake EMS, Beaver Dam paramedics, Lifestar and LifeNet EMS and Flight for Life all helped with the response.
