Axe used to break into Vernon County houses

An axe was used to break into two houses in the Town of Genoa on Tuesday.

The Vernon County Crime Stoppers and the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office said the burglaries happened between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in the area of Mound Ridge Rd/Cedar Lane.

Authorities said the suspect(s) used an axe on a door to get into the houses. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole items including jewelry, a chainsaw and leaf blower, a safe, multiple power tools, laptop computers, a camcorder, and a flat screen television.
