Infant and father who went missing in Fond du Lac marsh found safe
LAMARTINE, Wis. — Fond du Lac County authorities have found a man and baby who had been missing since Thursday night. The pair was located safe in Fond du Lac.
Law enforcement said 24-year-old Jordan and his child Serenity were last seen around 10:30 p.m. when they ventured into a marsh after crashing into a ditch on Brown Road west of Townline Road. Authorities had been searching the area since early Friday morning.
“Myself and Lamartine Fire Chief Joe Birschbach would like to extend sincere appreciation to the over 100 emergency personnel from multiple agencies who participated in the search for Jordan and Serenity, and want to thank all of the citizens who provided tips and information,” Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan F. Waldschmidt said in a Facebook post.
The pair were traveling with one of Jordan’s friends who said she lost sight of them shortly after the crash. Jordan’s friend was eventually able to get the vehicle out of the ditch and drove back to Fond du Lac where she contacted the sheriff’s office after not being able to reach Jordan for several hours.
Deputies responded to the crash scene and began searching the area where they found the car seat empty in a wooded area north of the crash scene. Law enforcement had not been able to find or make contact with Jordan or Serenity in the time since.
Law enforcement searched the area north of Brown Road between Esterbrook and Nelson roads with help from multiple fire departments, drones and a State patrol aircraft.
The sheriff’s office didn’t share details about how Jordan and Serenity were found.
Authorities said the crash and circumstances around their brief disappearance are under investigation.
