Authorities investigating Windsor man’s death as homicide; search for missing Windsor woman ongoing
Dane County Sheriff Kalvin Barrett said during a Monday afternoon press conference that people interviewed by detectives in the early stages of their investigation placed the couple’s son, 23-year-old Chandler Halderson, at the scene where his father’s remains were in found last week.
Authorities executed a search warrant Saturday on the Halderson’s home on Oak Spring Circle in Windsor, Wisconsin. Barrett said the search of that residence is still ongoing.
“We want to extend our deepest condolences to the Halderson family,” Barrett said. “We understand that some of the details of this investigation may be difficult for them to hear, and we want to respect that at this point of the investigation.”
The missing woman, 53-year-old Krista Halderson, is described as a white woman with red hair and blue eyes. She is 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs approximately 155 pounds. She was last seen Thursday, July 1.
“We are optimistic in regards to her whereabouts and where she’s at,” Barrett said when asked about the ongoing search for Krista. “We will let the evidence of this investigaiton tell us otherwise.”

“No tip is too small, and we will investigate every tip and lead to the fullest of our capabilities,” Barrett said.
Chandler Halderson, the couple’s 23-year-old son appeared in court Monday. A judge ordered he be held on a $10,000 cash bond for lying to law enforcement about the missing persons investigation as prosecutors gather more information about Halderson’s suspected involvement in their disappearance.
Deputy District Attorney William Brown said the state plans to file charges by Thursday.
