Authorities identify woman, man killed in apparent murder-suicide in Town of Sun Prairie
TOWN OF SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the two people found dead at a home in the 4600 block of Pierceville Road last week.
Police initially responded to the scene for a death investigation around 3:22 p.m. on Dec. 28. According to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, both deaths are the result of a domestic violence incident.
Investigators said 44-year-old Jessica L. Ewers was shot and killed by 45-year-old James T. Budworth before Budworth shot and killed himself. Both Ewers and Budworth were pronounced dead at the scene. The two lived together, according to Dane County officials.
“This is yet again, a tragic case of domestic violence,” Sheriff Dave Mahoney said. “We want to remind anyone that may be in an unsafe living environment or knows someone who is, that help is available.”
Both Ewers’ and Budworth’s deaths are still under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
