Authorities: Coals could have sparked landfill fire
Janesville fire took two hours to extinguish
JANESVILLE, Wis. — Janesville firefighters responded to a landfill fire on Saturday that they said measured a half-acre wide.
Fire crews used about 25,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire on Blackbridge Road.
Authorities said the fire was likely sparked by hot coals dumped in the trash.
The fire took about two hours to put out Saturday afternoon.
No injuries were reported.
