Ask Yourself: Why Not Vote?
It’s curious the way we decide which elections deserve our civic duty to vote and which we decide do not warrant that civic duty. It is especially curious given the elections that so many citizens decide to sit out are the very elections that analysts tell us hinge on voter turnout. This is another of those elections, with races for Governor, Congress, a constitutional amendment and more, and with predictions of typical, mid-term low turnout.
We’re not sure what factors, other than the obvious lack of the attention-grabbing Presidential election, contribute to an individual’s decision on whether or not to go to the polls. So we’ll just ask the question: why not vote? We ask that you think about it for a few minutes, think about what’s at stake, think about the difference your vote could make and at least go through the process of asking yourself…why am I not voting? Perhaps you’ll change your mind. We hope so.
