Arthur L. “Art” Harrison, Sr., 65, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Manor Care Health Services, Platteville, from cancer.
Memorial Graveside Military Rites will be accorded at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013 at the East Dubuque Cemetery by American Legion Post #42 and VFW Post #5274. Immediately following the graveside service there will be a Celebration of Life at the Elk’s Lodge, 50 South Oak St, Platteville from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. Art was born on February 2, 1948 in Edgerton, WI, the son of Walter F “Walt” and Blanche (Wolcott) Harrison.
Art served in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a cross country truck driver, dry waller and handyman. Art was a member of the Elks Lodge and VFW Post #5274. Art enjoyed car racing and helping others.
He is survived by his sons, Arthur L “Artie” Harrison, Jr. of North Liberty, IA; Rick Harrison of Dubuque, IA; step-daughter, Cassie (Joe) Gullion of Knoxville, IA; and grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Faye Ingraham of Rewey, WI; Jim W. (Gloria) Harrison, Wally (Lois) Harrison all of Dubuque; Deanna (Ray) Hoftender of East Dubuque, IA; Bonnie (Francis) Deutsch of Belmont, WI; Rita (Roger) Ames of Prairie du Chien, WI; Karla (Jeff) Pluemer of Platteville; Dan (Glenda) Harrison of Hobbs, NM; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, George B. Harrison, and children, Peggy Harrison and Jim Harrison.
