Arrest made in residence hall burglaries

A University of Wisconsin student was arrested for thefts from students’ residence hall rooms, according to UW-Madison police.

According to police, a man opened the door of multiple residents’ rooms in the Sellery Hall B-Tower Sept. 21 but left when the residents were found awake inside.

The man took items from other rooms in Sellery and Cole halls where occupants were sleeping inside.

Police said they spoke with Nicholas Suarez about the thefts, and he confessed to investigators.

Suarez is a student but he not does not live in campus housing.

He was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft, and disorderly conduct.

Police and university officials are reminding students to keep rooms locked and to not let anyone into a residence hall who you don’t recognize.
