Armed robber hits payday loan store

Police: Woman sexually assaulted at south side park

A payday loan store on Madison’s East side was robbed by a masked man with a gun Sunday, and Madison police are looking for help in finding the robber.

The incident happened just before 4 p.m. Sunday at PLS Loans in the 2700 block of East Washington Avenue.

According to police, the robber walked in, pointed a handgun at two female employees in the store and demanded money. Police said after he received the money, he took off on foot behind the building. No one was injured in the robbery.

Police are looking for a black man, between 6 feet and 6 foot 3 inches tall, who was heavy set and was wearing a red nylon sweatshirt, red nylon pants and black shoes at the time of the robbery. 

Police said the robber had a silver handgun, and was wearing black piece of fabric over his face at the time of the robbery. Anyone having information about the incident should call Madison Crime Stoppers at 266-6014.
