Armed robber hits East Side convenience store

Walker, Barrett trade jabs over crime statistics

An armed robber walked away with money and cigarettes after he robbed an East Side convenience store early Friday morning, police said.

The incident happened at around 4:30 a.m. at the Open Pantry in the 1400 block of Pflaum Road.

According to police, the robber displayed a handgun in his waistband before he made the demand to the store clerk. He walked away down Pflaum after the robbery. 

A K-9 unit was sent to find the man, was unsuccessful in finding the suspect.

The store clerk wasn’t hurt in the robbery.

Police said the suspect was a black man, who was about 5 feet 9 inches tall and very skinny. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants and a black nylon face mask.
